Special Technology

There are over two dozen "Special Technology" hardware and software adaptations available at the center.  For those with limited dexterity we offer special clicking devices, on screen keyboard, flat programmable keyboards, and voice input software.

For people who are visually impaired a 21" monitor along with a special screen enlargement program is one of our available options. If you are totally blind, screen reading software will speak what is on the screen.  To accommodate someone who may have difficulty with the use of a standard mouse there are  track ball mice with programmable buttons. If an individual can not use the keyboard they might benefit from a head-mounted laser pointing devise used in conjunction with an onscreen keyboard. The same person would appreciate they word prediction capability of this software.  Our computer lab is equipped with both PC and Macintosh computers.

Whenever possible we purchase software maintenance agreement policies that allow us to upgrade to the latest versions of software.
